Defensible .NET

Abstract

Security is fast becoming an integral part of the development lifecycle.  Cross-site scripting, injection, authentication and session management issues top the lists of current security vulnerabilities, and all bypass network defenses by targeting unlocked doors within the code.  Application developers must understand the current threats and be able to ensure their code is secure.  Jason Montgomery will explain the latest defensive techniques specific to the ASP.NET environment, providing hands-on, proven methods to eliminate the most dangerous vulnerabilities in your code.

Speaker

Jason Montgomery is Sr. Security Specialist at Active Technologies Group, Inc. (ATGi).  He is a SANS instructor in .NET application security and was selected to serve on the Steering Committee for the development of the Global Secure Software Professional (GSSP) Certification Blueprint for .NET.  Jason has spent the past five years guiding software security practices at the Department of Defense, and currently leads ATGi’s secure software development and assessment practice.

A Brief Overview of Behaviors in WPF

Abstract

Any WinForms developer can create a desktop app using WPF: add controls, attach event handlers, rinse and repeat.  At that point, it still looks like a WinForms app making the developer ask the question: why WPF? WPF provides features to help separate development concerns and facilitate
reuse.  Behaviors is one of those features that helps encapsulate functionality for reuse. We'll cover in brief, what are behaviors, how do you use them, how do you make them, and how they can make your life as a WPF developer easier

Speaker

Aaron Stemen has worked in a variety of industries including finance, hospital, state, and retail.  With the variety of industries also came a variety of technologies.  His first job outside of college used Delphi, but later he moved into VB, and in more recent years has been focused on and settled into the .NET platform.

At home Aaron spends a lot of time with both his wife and son.  He also enjoys reading both for fun and for education, and in those rare moments when there’s time left over, he tinkers in other technologies to help stay current and sharp.
