Grok Talk Topic

A Brief Overview of Behaviors in WPF

Abstract

Any WinForms developer can create a desktop app using WPF: add controls, attach event handlers, rinse and repeat.  At that point, it still looks like a WinForms app making the developer ask the question: why WPF? WPF provides features to help separate development concerns and facilitate
reuse.  Behaviors is one of those features that helps encapsulate functionality for reuse. We'll cover in brief, what are behaviors, how do you use them, how do you make them, and how they can make your life as a WPF developer easier

Speaker

Aaron Stemen has worked in a variety of industries including finance, hospital, state, and retail.  With the variety of industries also came a variety of technologies.  His first job outside of college used Delphi, but later he moved into VB, and in more recent years has been focused on and settled into the .NET platform.

At home Aaron spends a lot of time with both his wife and son.  He also enjoys reading both for fun and for education, and in those rare moments when there’s time left over, he tinkers in other technologies to help stay current and sharp.

Code and CONDG

The conference room behind the receptionist desk will be open and available for members who would like to spend their time at CONDG pair coding with other attendees. This will be a self-organizing session among the attendees; feel free to use the comments section to make arraignments to meet up and discuss things to work on before hand. Or, just show up and code! Whatever you feel comfortable with. This is YOUR time.

Please be advised that Internet access will not be available.
